Battlefield 2

Yesterday I played the Battlefield 2 demo for 10+ hours non-stop. It's addicting, and exciting when you're part of a convoy of tanks ready to kick some ass. You can choose from many vehicles such as tanks, dune buggys, choopers and jets. Even though the landscape is the same in each game, the play is very different. Ultimately, my fingers cramped up and I couldn't play anymore.

Live UI designing in Inertia

I thought about how to design a live user interface while a program is running, and I decided to try making a magic lens. A magic lens is a transparent window that you place on top of other windows to view or interact with in different ways. In the case of the Inertia designer, dubbed "X-Ray", when the window is over a view such as a button, clicking and dragging the mouse will move it.

Update: QuantumG has created a magic lens for Windows, cool!

Cool interface, but sometimes I like to move my mouse without things poping around all over the place.

Bleeding causes death

“Bleeding is the single largest cause of death on the battlefield,” says Jim Hensel, President and CEO of HemCon. “The technology that exists today prior to the HemCon bandage is a compression bandage and a tourniquet, which is the same thing used in the Civil War, the Revolutionary Way, and frankly, the Trojan War.”

Seriously, do people even listen to what comes out of their own mouth?

Bombs and war

"Lehr said it is unfortunate the bombs were used for war. But the development of a nuclear bomb was a race among scientists around the world that couldn't be stopped, he said."

The 80's just called, they want their web site back.
