Normally technology is developed to solve a problem. DHTML/AJAX seems to be a solution looking for a problem. And people are finding them: WYSIWYG Editor, Yahoo Maps, Google Maps, etc. Only problem is there are no interface standards, just a bunch of DOM APIs and HTML.
